(CNN) – Federal prosecutors want baseball legend Barry Bonds to serve 15 months in prison for his obstruction of justice conviction, according to a sentencing memo filed in court Thursday.
Defense lawyers argued in their filing that the judge should accept the probation office’s recommendation that Bonds be sentenced to two years’ probation, fined $4,000 and ordered to perform 250 hours of community service.
Bonds, 47, are set to be sentenced on December 16 in a San Francisco federal courtroom, less than two miles from the ballpark where he broke Hank Aaron’s major league home run in August 2007.
Should these superstars really go the the “cross bar hotel” for not telling the truth? We used to call it bull-shitting when we were kids.
If the guys in their “silver towers” (congress) were convicted of all the lies they told, we would have to go borrow some space from Putin’s prisons to house all of them.
What is the Old Testament proverb? “He that is without sin, cast the first stone” and “go, and sin no more. My buddy Mike told me that one. He is trying to convert me.
There should be a new phrase coined just for congress “he who tells a lie will not get elected to their next term”. If that ever happened Home Depot would be running out of duct tape they were buying to cover the prevaricators mouths.
What did these ego centric muscle heads really do?
First of all, they sent the wrong message to the kids of today that they do not have to play the game fair to win. Winning by taking performance enhancing drugs is the way to go. That is absolutely wrong.
Second, these superstar “demonstrators of dominance” screwed up their bodies for the rest of their lives. I guess it does matter to them if their penis falls off when they are 60 years old!
As far a breaking the law. Let’s put all the guys in those $ 1,000.00 suits that sit in chambers calling each other “esteemed”, who tell lies like Berry Buddy does go to jail with him. The chambers would look like one of them yelled “Who is picking up the check for dinner at their own expense”!
I guess the most important issue I have a problem with is. With all of the difficulties and complications we have in the USA, I think the Congress Club’s time can be best utilized by sticking to national concerns and leave the sport malfunctions to their respective commissioner.
Maybe in doing so the powers to be can come up with some solutions that will move our country ahead and get us out of the financial cavern we are in. I doubt it.
