How a billionaire fills gas tank for $1 a gallon:
“T” Boone Pickens is a hell of a guy. A modern day James “Rebel without a cause” Dean. It may be a little bit of an oxymoron but Mr. Pickens is definitely a rebel with a lot of moola to back up his ideas and convictions.
Thomas Boone Pickens, Jr. (born May 22, 1928), known as T. Boone Pickens, an American business magnate and financier. Pickens chairs the hedge fund BP Capital Management. He was a well-known takeover operator and corporate raider during the 1980s. With an estimated current net worth of about $1.4 billion, he is ranked by Forbes as the 328th-richest person in America and ranked 879th in the world.
The old boy came up the hard way and didn’t have anything handed to him. When he was a youngster he did a lot of hustling at odd jobs as well delivered papers. Even at that young age he used the business sense that would someday catapult him into business world as one of the richest people in the planet and eventually tripled the size of his route.
At the age of 26 after working for a few big oil companies as a wildcat; after 5 years he founded Mesa Petroleum. With a very big appetite for success, Pickens began buying up smaller oil companies building his “black gold” empire. The rest was history.
By 1981 at the age of 53, T Boone had taken that little Mesa oil company he started and grew it into the biggest oil company in the world.
With balls as big as a pawn shop, T Boone made a phenomenal takeover of a company called Hugoton Production Company. It was a Samson and Goliath story; little Mesa oil bought Hugoton that was 30 times its’ size .
Now that T Boone has the attention of a lot of money people, he has been touting the use of natural gas as an alternative to oil. Other areas that he is pushing are wind and solar power.
The article in the news today was about a “billionaire filling up his car for one dollar a gallon” using natural gas. It is a great story but the reality is; if and when that ever happened; as soon as the idea or practice caught on the price of natural gas would sky rocket just like every other good intentions idea that springs up.
I believe that a very few people/companies in this world control the purse strings and will continue to gouge out the workingman’s eye balls.
In ten years the top 5 oil companies made a staggering one trillion dollars profit. $1,000,000,000,000.00 those are a lot of zeros.
I saw a guy on the Merv Griffin show years ago that invented a process that would run a car/truck motor using only water. The US Army tried it out and it worked. The guy had his employees beat up, had threatening phone calls to his house, had his life and the life of his family threatened. Finally in despair, the guy sold his idea to some oil company that either destroyed the patent or put it in a very safe place.
The oil companies do not want anyone to come up with an idea that would knock them out of the box. They are probably in bed with the car manufacturers as well. I really believe that it is possible to make a luxury car that gets 100 plus mile to the gallon with no problem. The money people do not want to see that happen.
If USA did start supplying our own oil, as so many administrations have promised in the past and eventually get away from foreign suppliers; do you really think gas would be any cheaper? Absolutely not!!
Bridge Comes to San Francisco With a Made-in-China Label:
The same oil companies that hold the aces now would hold all the cards than. The only bright side of supplying our own oil; maybe; we would be able to put our people to work. Unless the paymaster passing out the work was as stupid as the people in California that awarded a gigantic,$ 7,2000,000,000.00 bridge/road construction project to a Chinese company and allowed them to bring their own people to man the job. There should be laws prohibiting that.
Ladies and gentlemen we are at the mercy of the people that hold the “green”.
Needless to say; you can bet that Mr. Pickens owns a big piece of the rock in the natural gas industry. Why not?
