Gunman fires shots at Toronto shopping mall,1 dead: cops:
TORONTO (AP) — A gunman fired shots in a busy food court in one of Canada’s busiest malls Saturday killing one man and injuring eight, police said.
Usually our neighbors up north are pretty quiet, reserved and non-violent people. Maybe some of the negative winds from the United States are carrying with it some of the insanity that we experience here on a daily basis.
In 2010 in Canada there were 554 murders in the entire year.
In the USA in 2010 believe it or not the murder rate was down to 14,748; that is from 1980 that holds the distinct record of 23,040 murdered in one year. That is like slaughtering the entire population of some cities.

The population of Canada is 34,482,000; while the population of the USA is 31,800,000; pretty even give or take a few million people.
There is one murder for every 62,242 people each year in Canada. In the USA there is one murder for every 2,156 people. These figures indicate that we are 29 times more prolific in the murder department then or Canadian friends. That is quite a distinction.
In the old west the cowpokes killed each other for cheating at cards, stealing horses or for someone snatching their young lady in the local saloon. In our society, we have these gun happy bums shooting each other for their tennis shoes or the criminals robs a 711 for 13 dollars and kill everyone in the place. I guess this is what is called “advancement in human nature”.
Quite a few of these physcos’ see the attention and news coverage the other shooters get and want their 15 minutes of fame.
On a positive note, the murder rate in the USA is the lowest it has been since 1969. We still may have a glimmer of hope?
