WASHINGTON — An intense debate within the Obama administration over resuming military assistance to Egypt, which in the end was approved Friday by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, turned in part on a question that had nothing to do with democratic progress in Egypt but rather with American jobs at home.
Maybe I am living under a rock or something but I still cannot justify the USA giving trillions of dollars a year away to foreign countries when we are stone broke.
We are going to give Egypt 1.3 billion dollars in foreign aid to help them boost up and fortify their military capabilities. This includes funding for 20 new F-16 fighter jets built by Lockheed Martin, and a $395 million contract to General Dynamics, for component parts for 125 Abrams M1A1 tanks that are being assembled at a plant in Egypt.
One of the poor explanations given as to why this give away made sense was given by Hillary Clinton. She stated that it has as much to do with keep our people employed as it does supporting Egypt.
If I am reading this correctly the report states that the parts made by General Dynamics are going to be assembled in Egypt. How is that benefiting American workers?
Hillary’s statement:
“In large part, there are U.S. jobs that are reliant on the U.S.-Egypt strong military-to-military relationship,” a senior State Department official said, speaking on condition of anonymity under rules set by the department. In deciding how to proceed, the official said, Mrs. Clinton and her colleagues “were looking at our overall national security goals, as well as any domestic issues.”
I really don’t know mathematically if the giveaway justifies the end result. Who is really going to benefit more by these transactions; General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin with their billions of dollars of profit or the citizens of our country that work for them. How much of what they are making is produced out of the country where it will not benefit American workers?
I truly understand the politics behind giving aid to “our allied” foreign countries to try and suppress terrorism and their takeover by countries but the fact on the matter is we are still dead broke.
Where does the USA get all of the dollars we are foolishly squandering that we don’t have; naturally they print more. That is one of the reason our dollar is so devalued.

Is this ludicrous that a country as destitute as the United States of America is supposed to be that we are GIVING away amounts of this magnitude.
Check out the countries on the list, countries like Russia that do not need foreign aid from anyone let alone the USA as well as the list of our know enemies.
I hope that no one in DC is really naive enough to believe that probably 50% or more of the funds we send across the pond in aid are not misappropriated by their heads of governments.
Remember what Saddam Hussein did when he went on the run. He backed up 3 semi-tractor trucks to the banks and filled them with millions of US currency.
Some $132 million of money that Saddam Hussein withdrew from the Iraqi Central Bank is believed to be funding the Iraqi insurgency against U.S. troops, U.S. officials told ABCNEWS.
Where do you think most of that money came from? USA foreign aid that was never used for what it was intended for.
So in essence, the foreign aid the United States is sending to these countries is going to support their dictators life styles while a good amount of Americans are starving.
It will probably never happen but the USA’s government and their way of doing business severely needs a total restructuring and overhaul. Giving trillions of bucks away when we are broke absolutely does not add up.
