D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray: at work while under siege:

At 1 p.m. Wednesday, D.C. Mayor Vincent C. Gray summoned his senior advisers to a conference room adjoining his office at city hall. During the previous 24 hours, another close associate had pleaded guilty and the U.S. attorney had described Gray’s 2010 campaign as corrupt.

“Are they talking about me”?

It seems that DC has a history of corruption and the misuse of the mayor’s office.

In 1990 Marion Barry then the mayor of DC was caught in a motel room, on camera smoking crack cocaine. Naturally, when he was confronted he denied that accusations until he was shown the tape. He was labeled with two distinct handles, “a junkie and a liar”.

Because he was a black mayor in a predominantly black city the jury could not reach a decision and the jury hung on the remaining charges. Six or seven jurors (of whom two were white and the rest black) believed that the evidence against Barry was overwhelming and that he had displayed “arrogance” during the trial. Against these, five black jurors were convinced that the prosecution had falsified evidence and testimony as part of a racist conspiracy against Barry, and even disputed factual findings that had not been contested in court. After scolding the jurors for not following his instructions, the judge declared a mistrial on the remaining charges.

I don’t know what more the jury needed as evidence. Maybe they wanted the tarnished mayor to snort a few lines in the court room to prove he is guilty. Evidently the video was not convincing enough; although in the end Barry buried himself and got six months in the slams.

It always has amazed me that some people cannot stand success and do everything in their power to topple their own castle.

These people are supposed to be the pillars of the community but are no better than common criminals that wear $1,000.00 suits.

I don’t know if Vincent Gray is guilty or not but there seems to be a dark cloud hanging over some of the “Nations Capitol’s” mayors.
