What is the ‘Ryan plan’? Budget proposal back in spotlight with VP announcement:
Yesterday Romney picked his running mate. Read the rest.
This what the new guy has planned for implementation in his role as V.P.
• The latest full-scale version of the plan, unveiled in March, vows to cut spending by $5 trillion over the next decade, compared against President Obama’s plan.
Like any other politician, it is very easy to say it but to implement it is a different story, tell us how. It is in the doing not the saying. American politics at its best.
• The plan would, a decade from now, give seniors the option of taking a government payment to purchase health insurance. That payment could be used to buy a private insurance plan, or go toward the traditional Medicare plan. The plan calls for extra assistance to help low-income beneficiaries and those with “greater health risks.”
How is that better than what we have now? If cold hard cash is given to most citizens to make a decision on where to spend it, guess where it goes, to the casinos or some other place rather than to buy insurance. Come up with a better plan. Cash is dangerous in a lot of peoples hands. They have no will power to put it where it belongs. This is one of the major problems Americans have today, lack of monetary discipline.
• The plan would overhaul Medicaid by turning it into a block grant system for states.
How?
• The plan would cut the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 25 percent. It would implement two individual income tax brackets — 10 percent and 25 percent.
“The corporate tax is a good idea, it may give some companies the incentive to come back or to move forward”.
The income tax structure is better than it is today but I still say FLAT TAX across the board, no loop holes no shelters, everyone in the USA will pay the same percentage of tax. These politicians do not want to touch this. It will impacted them and their benefactors the most.
• The plan would head off the scheduled automatic defense cuts, first by diverting the planned $55 million defense cut in 2013 by implementing those cuts elsewhere.
Both sides are making a mistake by cutting defense. Defense is what has kept our country strong and safe. Or enemies are afraid to attack the USA because we are so powerful in the defense areas. There are many countries that are salivating, just waiting for the USA to get to our weakest point for them to attack and it is probably one of the countries that we are giving aid to. “Fear brings respect“. No military cuts. It may be feasible to cut the number of troops but the high tech end of the militarily should be built up. The next “big one” we get into is going to be fought technically from the air not from the ground. Another bad idea.
• The plan vows to bring the size of government to 20 percent of GDP by 2015.
How is that going to be implemented”. One huge sector they can start making cuts to is to overhaul all of the benefits, perks, retirements packages, pay grades all of the people that are directly connected with the bigger side of the government, president, V.P., senators, congressman, judges for life and all of their constituents. Start cutting the fat. Money is saved by saving pennies and the dollars will come.
Get all of the lobbyist out of the halls of the DC buildings so there can be a fair playing field for every American business not just the ones that are connected or kicking back. As it stands today, the companies are connected having access to someone’s ear, that talk the loudest, kicks back the most, that wander the halls of DC with impunity are then companies that get the gravy.
I did not hear anything out of “The Ryan Plan” about ending these un-winnable wars we are in or unemployment. Those are the two major factors that we should be focusing on.
Headlines this morning: Afghan Attacks on Allies Spike, Leaving 16 Dead. As long as none of big wigs family members are on the front lines they could care less.
Each person that keeps these wars going should be obligated by law to visit every family of each solider killed in action and each maimed soldiers and explain to them why we are there.
In my opinion Ryan is doing nothing for the Republican Party.
I hope these brain surgeons understand that the concept of picking a running mate is to get someone that is very popular among the people, high profile, clean as a whistle, likeable to the public and that has a “BIG FOLLOWING”. To me it should have been Chris Christie or Mark Rubio. First Christie. He carries a big stick and cannot and will not be pushed around by anyone. Maybe it is his Italian heritage. I’ll bet on it.
This maybe another Sara Story; wrong choice. On the other side of the coin, is Romney the best the Republicans could come up with in 4 years???
The more I look at the Republican Party I wonder just how smart they are? The more I read about them the less encouraged I get because of their blunders in decision making. They do not have a good track record for doing the smart things.
After Obama got elected the Republicans put Michael Steele, the “Great Black Hope” the first black leader of the Republican Party, symbolically to warn the first African American president that his party will give the Democrats a run for their money in every community in America. Mikie became the party leader. Boy were they wrong. Let us just say that his performance as “the Great Black Hope” was less than stellar. It was like giving Jesse James a AKA 47 back in the old west. Checkout those eye balls. He is trying to figure out where the pot of gold is.
Everyone in their life makes mistakes because that is human nature, even highly intelligent people. The measure of a persons intellect is not if they made a mistake but how many times did they make the same one over and over! Do I really have to say anymore?
Of all of the Elephants in the world, the Republicans party had to pick the only one with a bad memory and one that makes the same blunders time and time again. He is still tip toeing through the tulips.
I think after November there are going to be a lot of USA’s citizens that are going to waiting at the broader of Our Northern Cousins in the land of Maple Leafs.
I think there are going to be a lot of Americans that are in the same quandary as they were in four years ago. They don’t necessarily want to vote for Romney but they are forced to because of the past performance or lack of in the Obama administration.
If I were Romney I would reconsider his choice. This one is for all the marbles.
