Paralyzed man weeps as high court denies his right-to-die:

A British man, paralyzed from the neck down, broke down Thursday upon hearing he had lost his battle to end his life of “pure torture,” Agence France-Presse reported.
Tony Nicklinson suffers from locked-in syndrome, for which there is no cure. He openly wept as he watched the high court’s verdict read aloud on his computer.

Is it pathetic that a person does not have the right to control their own life and death?

My heart is breaking looking at this poor man in this condition and is helpless to do anything about it. Is he supposed to get a gun out and blow his brains out or is someone else supposed to do it for him?

Do these keepers of the law think that this man would want to end his life if he was normal?

In my opinion; any person that is of sound mind and has an incurable illness/disease should have to right to determine whether they want to live or die.

For any court to have that kind of power is obscene. These people with the gavel in their hands should put themselves in that predicament to see how they like that quality or lack of quality of life.

This is an antiquated laws that has been on the books since operations were performed with a hand saw and a hand drill. This is 2012 and I think it is time for a change in the judicial and medical communities outlook regarding euthanasia.

It is not how long a person lives; it is how well they live. If nothing else a person should be able to control their own destiny.

Non-active euthanasia, or assisted suicide, is legal in three US states;

• Oregon
• Washington
• Montana
• New Hampshire is currently considering a bill on assisted suicide

Active euthanasia, commonly referred simply as euthanasia, is only legal in:

• the Netherlands
• Belgium

Assisted suicide is also legal in:

• Albania
• Luxembourg

These countries and states are exhibiting some common sense and a little compassion for their fellow human beings.
