Landing people on Mars:
The NASA guys are serious crap shooters and day dreamers with government money. I think it is time our government puts the brakes on the exploring of outer space and concentrate on our calamitous problem solving here in inner space.
A round-trip human expedition to Mars, using current technology, could take two to three years.
I wouldn’t say that the most recent mission to Mars was a fluke and the USA got lucky but that is a distinct possibility. Sending people out there is an entirely different story. Based on the circumstances and conditions; who is going to be the first to volunteer?
Can you imagine cramming a half a dozen people or more into a space capsule traveling at 25,000 miles an hour for 3 years? I know people that can’t get along with anyone for 40 minutes.
It maybe; the people that head the space exploration program are speaking hypothetical but I am sure they are thinking very seriously about taking a trip to the Red Planet. Why you ask; job insurance number one and day dreaming at someone else’s expense.
From 1958 to 2011 NASA has spent 528 billion dollars in their outer-space projects. Realistically speaking; what do we have to show for it? Maybe a couple of moon rocks on some scientist’s desk.
Based on the current dire economics of the USA, would anyone think that that the 528 billion could have been utilized in better ways?
I would venture to say if all if the unnecessary endeavors/special projects of the USA were curtailed for a couple of years, the money that would be saved would make a significant dent in the national debt. One the other side of the coin; some of our governments officials would certainly find another way of squandering the excess funds.
Is it only the common citizen that sees these discrepancies in the operations of the government? Most of these issues do not take “rocket science” to figure out. As it stands congress has a 79% disapproval rating. That is what I call faith in our government!
OK lads. We have an inordinate combination of problems here on earth to deal with. Let’s get these issues under control; than we can worry about Na Nu Na Nu and their pals.
Based on the opinion of Stephen Hawking, one of the most respected and intelligent people on our planet. He believes there is some sort of highly intelligent beings in outer space but “It could be too dangerous for humans to interact with extraterrestrial life”. He warns that communicating with them could be “too risky.”
There is an Old Italian saying that is very prophetic, “lasciare abbastanza bene da solo” (leave well enough alone).
