Screwed up? No problem, we will just promote you

Friendly-fire victim outraged over Navy officer’s admiral promotion:

I have said this for years; “when people that work for the government or big corporations screw up enough they usually get promoted”. The US Navy is no exception to my rule.

(CBS News) A U.S. Navy officer named Timothy Dorsey is up for promotion to admiral.
It was about 25 years ago that Navy officer Tim Dorsey was on a training mission over the Mediterranean Sea when he accidentally shot down his fellow naval officer Mike Ross.

The incident was completely accidental or a miscommunications between Dorsey and the training instructors but the fact still remains Mike Ross ejected at 630 miles per hour causing leg, shoulder and spine injuries, which have degenerated over the years requiring 32 surgeries. Ross said it ruined his life, and he is still in physical pain causing him to be on 100% disabled.

Dorsey punishment for the foul up was he was to be grounded and never allowed to fly again but was not discharged from the Navy. Instead he was assigned to an intelligence group of the Navy where through the years he excelled at his job. He should have been as good a pilot as he was a book worm.

Despite this mishap Dorsey continued to go up the promotional ladder in the Navy. Dorsey is now being considered for promotion to admiral which is equivalent to a general in the Marine Corps.

There was a movie made years ago starring a Cleveland guy named Paul Newman. The name of the movie was “Somebody up there likes me”; the life story of Rocky Graziano. Go rent it; it was a great movie.

Well somebody up there likes Timothy Dorsey that would help propel him to the status he commands today; especially with a blemish such as shooting down one of his fellow officer on his record.

Dorsey has to have a god-father or a relative somewhere in the background pushing this guy ahead. It can be that Dorsey has something on somebody and has taken the oath of Omerta in exchange for personal favors.

Needless to say; Mike Ross the pilot that was shot down by his comrade is less than thrilled about this promotion.

In recent times I learned that there is nothing out of bounds with the government.

As for all of you government employees; don’t ever worry about screwing up, because if you screw up “large enough” your only punishment will be that you will be promoted.

Take a good look at our current situation and tell me that it is not impossible to promote or re-elect a person based on poor performance.
