CNN’s Jonathan Mann reports on identical twins, already deaf, choosing death over blindness in Belgium:

What a hell of a choice these identical and deaf twins that lived in Belgium had to make. It is great they had the option.

Both Marc and Eddy Verbessem 45 years old were both born deaf; that wasn’t bad enough.

Very recently the two inseparable brothers were told that they were both going blind. That news was too much for them to bear.

Thank goodness for them and many other people that live in Belgium that the country does have a euthanasia law on it book that allows a person to terminate their life under certain guidelines.

I think it is a fantastic law that gives a person the right to control their own destiny. Last year 1133 people in Belgium took advantage of the law and ended their life the way the wanted to.

It may be time for the United States to come out of the dark ages and allow a person that luxury if they so desire.

We have put 3 pets to sleep over the years that were to sick to recover. Every time we did them that favor instead of having them suffering, I consistently commented, “human beings should have the same option”.

If someone disagrees with me;  go into some of these nursing homes and look at the people that are strapped into their wheel chairs, sedated to the max with their tongues hanging out of their mouths day after day. Why is that you ask?

Repeat, repeat, repeat. It is all about the money!!

Any family member that would want to see their loved ones in that condition just because they go to see them once a week; maybe, are very selfish people.

I have always said  “a person should be issued a pill the day they are born and it should be up to them, providing they are in their right mind, when to pop it”.
