Do as I say not as I do

Ex-House members spend campaign money after they depart:

WASHINGTON — Former House members are spending the money left over from their campaigns to pay for everything from luxury cars, to foundations that bear their names.

Why is it that “what is good for the goose isn’t good for the gander”? Any way you slice it, whatever these politicians do; it still comes out as bologna.

Florida Republican Allen West spent some of his excess campaign cash to donate a combined $500,000 to two foundations, one including the Allen West Foundation. How nice is that; donate to yourself.

Norm Dicks, a Democrat from Washington State, gave $25,000 to the athletic department of his Alma mater.

New York congressman Eric Massa paid the “little lady of the house” $700 a month while he was in office for services rendered. I wonder what those services could have been?

According to the guys that keep the books; of the 82 House members who were defeated or resigned from the last Congress, more than one in four had more than $100,000 remaining in their campaign accounts at the end of 2012 that has conveniently disappeared. For Joe Blow citizens; isn’t that called stealing?

A Tea Party favorite named West known for his fiery rhetoric had more than $900,000, even after donating $500,000 to the new groups Dec. 28. That other 900 G’s surely went south.

The Allen West Foundation and American Legacy Guardians each received $250,000.

When West was confronted by reporters asking to account for the donated funds; naturally, just like all of the politicians, he drank a fifth.

Federal law allows former lawmakers to keep their campaign accounts active indefinitely and dole out leftover funds to candidates, political parties and charities. That is all well and good but who were the people that wrote these laws? The guys that are stretching it to its max.

The list of questionable infractions by these ex-politicians is endless. It seems to me that some of the biggest violators of the law are the people that write them.

do as I say

As eluded to many times in the past; there is no accountability in politics. As the old saying goes “do what I say not what I do”!
