¡THE HOLY SÍ! ARGENTINE POPE:

I would say that the new Pope Francis 1st is getting off on the right foot. He is practicing what he preaches, expressing what he thinks and will not succumb to a popularity contest with his beliefs like some politicians do; just to make points because that is the thing to do.

He is shooting straight from the hip on the social issues he believes in. He is against abortions, same-sex marriages and contraceptives.

I certainly hope that he puts the brakes on these pedophile priests that have plagued the church for years. Put them in jail where they belong just like any other criminal. Why should they be treated any different? They should receive a more severe penalty because of their position in life.

I can’t say that I agree with all of his beliefs but I am saying that he seems to be a man with convictions, with a backbone and is not afraid to profess his philosophies. That is what good leaders do regardless of the consequences.

Taking this new appointment as pope, Francis 1st has been thrown into a lion’s den. His task will be to try to right all of the wrongs by his predecessors. It is going to take everything this man has learned in his 76 years to pull the Catholic Church back to where it should be; a religion not a laughing-stock.

Good luck to Pope Francis 1st. He is going to need it.
