Lets open up the “toking” booth

Nation’s Largest Police Force Spent 1 Million Hours on Pot Possession Arrests Over Last Decade

NEW YORK — The NYPD spent 1 million hours making 440,000 arrests for low-level marijuana possession charges between 2002 and 2012, according to a new report released Tuesday — just as legislative leaders in Albany are deciding whether to pass a bill reforming drug laws.

I think it is about time that the US government gives the pot smokers the thumbs up in this country. I don’t really believe that it is as much of a threat as the authorities make it out to be and I don’t actually condone the use of it. I think the main objection is; the pot pushers are not paying taxes on what they sell.

What I do know for sure, all the efforts of law enforcement, monetarily and physically can be put to better use elsewhere. I don’t use the “weed from seed” AKA * Weed * Pot * Reefer * Grass * Dope * Ganja * Mary Jane * Hash * Herb * Aunt Mary * Skunk * Boom * Chronic * Cheeba * Blunt * Ashes * Atshitshi * Baby Bhang * Bammy * Blanket * Bo-Bo, Bobo Bush * Bomber * Boom * Broccoli * Cripple * Dagga * Dinkie Dow * Ding * Dona Juana (or Juanita) * Flower, Flower Tops * Ganja * Gasper * Giggle Smoke, Good Giggles * Good Butt * Hot Stick * Jay * Jolly Green * Joy Smoke, Joy Stick * Roach but people I talked to claim that the effects of smoking a joint is not much worse or comparable to getting drunk from booze. Booze sellers pay taxes so no objections.

There are over  16,000 alcohol-related fatalities each year and going up.  It is estimated that 45 people die a day from drunk driving accidents.

I never heard of a guy or women that smoked pot involved in a death unless it was theirs from falling out of an apartment window.  Let the numbers speak for them-self.

If these facts are accurate the entire USA can benefit by legalizing the stuff. They can even make a profit by having the dealers or seller pay taxes on it. Unless one of the pot smoking politicians passes a law exempting it from taxes.

In 2012, according to the report, the NYPD made 39,218 low-level possession arrests. The report assumed police spent an average of 2.5 man-hours on such arrests, amounting to 98,045 hours in 2012. What a waste of manpower and money.

Nationwide: The  USA  government statistics conclude that marijuana sales in our country is a $113 billion dollar business. The government is having a difficult time creating jobs to make any money and has to rely on profits from casinos to survive; they might as well tap the weed industry as well.

Someone ring the bell in DC and wake up those deadheads. It is 2013 and is time to put the efforts and finances of law enforcement to better use than chasing some stumble bums around that have some creeping bent grass in the pockets.

They aren’t doing anything anyway. If they ever decide to vote on this issue it would probably take 3.5 years, with 55 committees and 20 billion dollars and still not make any smoke.
