NASA Asteroid Landing Mission To Take Place In 2021 After Accelerated Obama Plan, Says Bill Nelson:

Somebody better find these “rocket scientists” something better to do with their time and the governments money than wanting to go into outer space lasso an asteroid. What the hell is the matter with this country; have all the big wigs gone nuts? Isn’t there a better use of government funds?

WASHINGTON — NASA is planning for a robotic spaceship to lasso a small asteroid and park it near the moon for astronauts to explore, a top senator said Friday.

The ship would capture the 500-ton, 25-foot asteroid in 2019. Then using an Orion space capsule, a crew of about four astronauts would park next to the captured boulder in 2021 and go for a stroll.

WHY???

The Obama administration is putting $100 million in the budget for the accelerated asteroid mission in the 2014. The money would be used to find the right small asteroid. 100 million to select the right asteroid?

I hope there are a few people in DC that have sense enough to shoot down this asteroid project. There is absolutely no justification for it.

By the time the NASA boys get finished with this preposterous project, the 100 Million won’t even cover the paper work that it will create; it will be in the billions.

After all these years of space exploration there hasn’t been one significant finding to justify all of the expenses put into it. OK; maybe there was life on Mars at one time. How really cares.

It is not a good idea to try and rearrange with what Mother Nature put together by moving around what she so nicely put in place. There may be some serious side-effects.

If these guys want to go lasso something they should join the rodeo.
