CNN, Fox News, AP Forced To Walk Back Reports Of Boston Bombing Arrests:

“Lets go, hurry we gotta be first to report it” is the motto of all of the news networks.

CNN and other outlets found themselves with egg on their face again when they reported that an arrest had been made in the Boston bombings and were then forced to walk that news back.

I remember when JFK was shot; it was pandemonium on the air waves for all of the news networks wanting to be the first ones that said the president died.

At one point Walter Cronkite was so flustered; he stopped broadcasting and yelled “is he dead or not”.

Ratings, Ratings, Ratings, that is what the entertainment and news industries strive for, being the first, the most indecent and getting away with it.  That is all well and good but if they made a better effort to “get it right” that would eliminate a lot of bad scope, anxiety  and filth.
