Why is it that a good majority of what the US government gets involved in goes awry one way or another and spins out of control? A sensible bill was established in 1984 by Ronald Regan to provide emergency landlines access for low-income families which was supposed to be used for emergency purposes.
Since then all the administrations and especially the Obama Administration has expanded the program to foot the bill for handouts of 10, 20, or even 30 free cell phones per person and turning a good idea that initially cost $143 million in its inception to costing $2.3 billion in 2013.
Government talks about controlled spending and cutting costs. They are the ones that create these monsters like Frankensteins and then the country has to live with them.

As I have alluded to many times before “money is saved by watching the pennies and the dollars will take care of them-self.
There is no doubt that the government could save 100 of billions of dollars each year by eliminating out of dated programs or programs that no one needs.
We will have to ask our representatives to take a look at this situation as soon as finish counting their pension money. That may be awhile.
