Reuters) – Iran’s incoming President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday offered an olive branch to the United States in talks on Tehran’s disputed nuclear program, raising hopes of progress after years of stalemate.

Iran has a very long track record of having a bad memory and not being able to keep promises or commitments they have make, especially when Ahmadinejad was the main man. Maybe the new guy is different but don’t hold your breath.

There is always hope of a new regime turning things around but there is a couple of old says that may come into play here; “beware of Iranian’s bearing gifts” and “keep your eye on the Iranian and your finger on the trigger”. I think both are appropriate in this situation.
