Homeless Couple Shot By Sheriff Deputies Awarded $4.1 Million:
What a hell of a way to make a buck. They should have received a lot more.
An LA couple has gone from being homeless to being millionaires, after the man and woman were innocently shot over 15 times by LA sheriff’s deputies.
Some gun happy deputies in Lancaster, Calif. were looking for a parolee who had jumped bail when they ran across Angel Mendez and his fiancé Jennifer that were sleeping in a shack on a friend’s property. The deputies who had an itchy trigger fingers spotted a BB gun leaning against the wall, thought it was a real gun and without any questions opened fired on the two people in the shack
TheDeputy Dogs hit Angel 14 times and Jennifer who was pregnant was shot once in the back and had a graze wound to her hand. As a result of being shot multiple times Angel had to have part of his leg amputated. Angel had his guardian angel watching over him that day.
“I kept screaming for them to ‘stop shooting, stop shooting, my fiancé is pregnant, it’s just a BB gun,’” Angel said.
The couple was awarded $4.1 million when a judge ruled their civil rights were violated.
The deputy involved were cleared of any wrongdoing in an internal investigation. How could this couple get this kind of an award if there was no wrongdoing?
Who was sitting on the review board Wyatt Earp’s Ma Ma?
These gun happy deputies shot off more than 15 rounds at two unarmed people and was cleared of all wrongdoing. I have heard of the Blue Code of Protection before but this one is taking it a little too far.
