High School Football Coach Suspends His Entire Team:

It is about time someone in authority takes the position of discipline above the sports.

The head football coach of Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah, Matt Labrum, has taken the concept of character-building to a whole new level.

With ongoing reports of cyber-bullying and other off-the-field problems plaguing his team, Labrum suspended the entire football team of  80 players.

“We felt like everything was going in a direction that we didn’t want our young men going,” said Labrum, an alumnus of the program he’s coached for the past two years. “We felt like we needed to make a stand.”

“We looked at it as a chance to say, ‘Hey, we need to focus on some other things that are more important than winning a football game,” Labrum said. “We got an emotional response from the boys. I think it really meant something to them, which was nice to see that it does mean something. There was none of them that fought us on it.”

I think if some of the other school officials around the country followed Coach Labrum’s fundamental behavior pattern and standards of discipline there would be more kids, mainly boys that would grow up to be men instead of punks. The jails and prisons are loaded with them.

Bend the tree while  it is young and it will grow into any shape you create.

The coach gets the good guy award today.
