Senior US Navy officer, NCIS agent arrested in bribery scheme
The US Navy has to start paying their “brass” a little more than they do to keep them from straying into the den of thieves.
Two high-ranking U.S. Navy officials are under arrest along with the head of a Singapore-based defense contractor in what some are calling the “worst scandal” to hit that branch of the armed forces in years.
Navy Cmdr. Michael Vannak Khem Misiewicz, 46, tipped off Leonard Glenn Francis, CEO of Glenn Defense Marine Asia Ltd., to the worldwide movement of Navy ships so his company could obtain contracts to service those vessels at port.
Also caught in the web was Naval Criminal Investigative Service supervisory Special Agent John Beliveau, 44, who downloaded reports on his agency’s investigation into Glenn Defense Marine Asia and how it won a $125 million contract to service naval ships at ports of call.
The officer and the gentleman were cheap dates. For their devious efforts they were paid off with some miserly gifts that included some ladies of the night, cash, luxury hotel rooms, plane tickets but their greatest pay-off were tickets to a Lady Gaga concert in Thailand. I wouldn’t go see her in the USA.
I would have pondered the thought that these two double agents should have gotten a better pay off, more like a few million apiece for ruining their carriers and eventually landing in the cross bar hotel; after all the recipient of their dastardly deed got a $125 million dollar contract.
Needless to say, I would expect Glenn’s contract will be null and void.
