And the best city in the world for food is…?
Talk about a great job. Anthony “ Tony” Bourdain has the world by the ass and knows it.
This well renowned chef, food critic and host of Parts Unknown, travels around the world on someone else’s dime taste testing food, staying in the best hotels, drinking the best booze in the world and I am sure gets well paid for his expertise.
According to Forbes magazine in 2008 Bourdain was making $ 1.5 million a year, plus expenses. I am sure that it is considerably more now.
He recently made a statement in an interview that Tokyo has the best food in the world. That has to be a very broad statement especially since he is leaving out his own root country France and all of the other great restaurant here in the USA and in Italy. Most be the sake.
When Tony first appeared on TV with his show “No Reservations” I really didn’t care for the guy but as I continued to watch him, he sort of grew on me.
On one of his programs he made the statement “Hey mom, I did everything you told me not to when I was growing up and look at me now”! Needless to say he is very successful in what he does; behind his blood-shot eyes and his slurred speech at times he is very entertaining; bleep – bleep – bleep.
It has always been wondered how guys like him get these unique jobs? They must be related to someone higher up in the industry.
The only question I have; being that Tony is half in the bag some of the time when he is on camera, how does he know what he is eating and where he is to make judgment calls like that?
