Mans best friend.

An avid hiker named Marco Lavoie 44 of age set off over the summer on an expedition along the Nottaway River in western Quebec and became stranded for three months deep in the vast Canadian wilderness.
Lavoie was accompanied by his long time faith-full canine companion while on his excursion.
Somehow the hiker and the dog got turned around while trying to find his way out of the wilderness. With-in the next few days Lavoie found himself confronted by a bear that attach him.
His faith-full companion the canine jumped on the bears back to fend off the bear and eventually saved his masters life; a truly heroic act on the dogs part.
During the encounter the bear ate all of Lavoie’s food and trashed the survival equipment.
What happened over the next week or so was one of the most agonizing decisions the lost hiker ever had to make in his life.
After sometime without food the lost hiker was on the verge of starving to death and had to make a very critical and desperate decision. The animal and his best friend that just saved his life from the bear attack had to be killed and eaten in order to for him to survive.
Lavoie killed his best friend with a rock and ate him a little at a time until he was eventually discovered by a helicopter that finally rescued him.
I am sure that this haunts Lavoie to this day but is ever so thankful to his dog “the hero” for saving his life in several different ways.
