Johnson & Johnson will pay $2.2 billion to settle charges that the company marketed drugs for unapproved uses and paid “kickbacks” to doctors and nursing homes.
Just like mostly everything in today’s society, Johnson & Johnson a company that once was a trusted household name and very well respected company, got in line with the rest of the crooks in the industry and was slammed with a $ 2.2 billion dollar fine, one of the biggest in history for a pharmaceutical company to pay.
What sets these thieves/crooks apart from other companies that do not deal in life saving materials, they are aware that the drugs they were selling like the schizophrenia drugs Risperdal and Invega, and the heart failure drug Natrecor could have an adverse impact on the people’s health that is using them. That doesn’t bother them in the least. Is it even possible that these people are so greedy that they would sell them to someone in their family?
What should be determined before the court imposes the fine is; how much profit did they make selling the drug. If the made 20 billion, a 2 billion dollar fine can be considered a slap on the wrist.
It appears that the whistleblowers in three states that “dropped the pill” on J&J will split $167.7 million in what we can call a “finder’s fee”. Not too bad for making a phone call.
I wonder how many of the top brass with J&J that made the decisions to keep pushing the drugs when they knew they were bad will do time??? Foolish question, isn’t it!
It is always about the money.
