Another slap on th wrist

Rep. Trey Radel to return to Congress after cocaine arrest:

Radel has been absent from Congress for almost six weeks since his arrest, appearing before a D.C. Superior Court judge on Nov. 20 and completing a 28-day treatment program at a clinic in Naples, Fla.

This is just another example of politics and power getting a person off the criminal justice hook.

The 37-year old congressman purchased 3.5 grams of cocaine while the police had a sting operation going on in Washington’s Dupont Circle neighborhood. He was arrested shortly thereafter.

Cocaine and crack cocaine are class A drugs, which carry heavy legal penalties:

If a person is over 18, their first offense could be 1-2 years in prison! A second offense could take a huge penalty of up to 7 years in prison and a fine of 2000-4000$.

Tell me how the congressman got away with 28 days in rehab. Maybe his daddy has a few bucks. He should have sent him across the pond to that 450,000 a year rehab facility for affluenza convicts.

It is not bad enough he got away with a slap on the wrist but the congressman has the privilege to return to his post. What an example this country is setting for our younger generations. There are hardly any consequence for the rich and powerful.

If he were a cop, the are issues of public trust, and that would up the sentence in time substantially. Congress people violate public trust every day and get away with it. More than likely, a bribe reached the judge through political party carrier.
