Push for Sentencing Changes Underway in Congress:
An unusual alliance of tea party enthusiasts and liberal leaders in Congress is pursuing major changes in the country’s mandatory sentencing laws.
While the two opposing sides have this little love session going on maybe they should put their heads together and set some parameters to ensure that people with money and influence can’t buy their way out of prison.
The “affluenza brat” that got 10 years’ probation and no jail time still bugs the hell out of me and I am sure a lot of other people. There should be mandatory guidelines for penalties no matter where a person lives or who their daddy is.
I wonder where the judge is getting a sun tanned and sipping on Margaritas’?
Someone should take “the brats” old man back to the wood shed and show him what justice is all about.
I put a good percentage of the blame on the brats parents as I do him. Not only did they spoil the shit out of him, they bought his way out of prison and then wanted to set the little punk up in a high class rehab joint in the UK that costs 450,000 a year. That is sure teaching junior a lesson.
The penalty for any crime committed in California should be the same as in Alaska and throughout the country. We can call it standardizing the penalty systems.
I can remember way back, when rape carried a mandatory death sentence in most states in the country. What has changed? Is rape any less violent or brutal today than it was years back or has the liberal society we live in degraded our moral values to this level? I think so.
With all of the creative ambulance chasers we have today, they continually invent preposterous defenses that should be thrown out of court. So in essence, the presiding judge is just as culpable as the ambulance chasers for allowing such ridiculous defenses. “Affluenza” – hellooooooooooooooo?
Take the camera crews out of the court rooms and get back to basics. The majority of the antics that we see on court room TV would not exist if cameras were not permitted. Everyone wants to be a star.; right Judge Lance Allan Ito?
The outcome of OJ’s murder trial and demonstration of hypocrisy and play acting would have turned out a lot different if it wasn’t for Judge Lancey allowing the try-out rehearsals for the Academy Awards.
