Gov’t takes aim at “zero-tolerance” classroom policies:
WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is issuing new recommendations on classroom discipline that seek to end the apparent disparities in how students of different races are punished for violating school rules.
In American schools, black students without disabilities were more than three times as likely as whites to be expelled or suspended, according to government civil rights data collection from 2011-2012. Although black students made up 15 percent of students in the data collection, they made up more than a third of students suspended once, 44 percent of those suspended more than once and more than a third of students expelled.
Is it possible that the Black and Hispanic are more inclined to misbehave and consequently receive more disciplinary action than the rest of the students?
Instead of Holder trying to stir up a can of worms and stating that minorities are being “singled out” more than the whites, try to teach everyone what is expected of them as maturing and responsible citizens.
It all should begin at home. Parents should not think that their kids are sent to school to learn discipline; that should happen long before they walk into a class room.
That is all the minorities have to see that the government feels that they are being discriminated against for their bad behavior. That is a recipe for trouble. This guy is supposed to be a peace maker not an agitator.
Education is the name of the game for all races on how to lead a decent and respectful life; not sympathy for a solution. Sympathy for misbehaving within any race only fortifies in a persons mind is what they are doing is acceptable.
John Stossel would say “give me a break”.
