Airbus A321 Transcontinental: who really needs it?
The airlines are not missing any amenities when they put together these flying cities. Passengers will be treated to comforts that some of them do not have in their own home but it will come at a cost.
It has
• Comfort in every cabin – Fully lie-flat First and Business Class seats on transcontinental flights along with all-aisle access in First Class. And Main Cabin Extra seating offering more inches of legroom
• Connectivity – Inflight Wi-Fi capability throughout the plane, and universal AC power outlets and USB jacks* at every seat
• Relaxation – Personal in-seat entertainment featuring screens at every seat with up to 200 movies, up to 180 TV programs, more than 350 audio selections and up to 20 games
• Inflight Dining – First Class customers on the A321T will have the option to reserve their entrée in advance of the flight
• Exclusivity – American will be the only carrier providing a true First Class cabin on transcontinental flights. With both First and Business Class cabins, you have more opportunity for a comfortable, connected and premium experience flying coast to coast.
These planes have every convenience a person could want. There is only two problems they have not be able to resolve yet; when they encounter air turbulence and the plane does some rocking and rolling the pins in the bowling alley keep falling over and the balls keep rolling off of the pool tables. I am sure they will find a solution to the problems sooner or later.
This behemoth carries between 450 to 840 passengers depending on what airline you use. These people are nuts. Everything has to be bigger, faster and out-due the last one. Sometime no change in certain areas is better. The old saying “leave well enough alone”!
Air safety has been pretty good in the last few years with minimal crashes but if one of the jumbo jets would ever take a dive fully loaded it will be like wiping out an entire population of a small city.
