Not so Friendly Skies

United Airlines pilots never spoke to fliers about severe turbulence, passenger says:

Despite hitting turbulence so severe Monday it reportedly sent some passengers crashing into the ceiling, pilots on board the United Airlines flight did not address the situation on the intercom, a passenger told KUSA.

My experience with United was not nearly as severe as this flight but I had an experience with them that takes the cake or should I say compressor.

Last October I went to a trade show in Vegas and curb checked my bag that contained a 3 gallon compressor. It did arrive in Vegas but inside was a note from the TSA that they inspected my bag. I am glad they are doing their job; sometime.

On my return trip I did the exact same thing in Vegas curb checked my bag.

When I arrived at my destination and picked the bag off of the bag carrier I noticed it was very light and it had a plastic tie holding the zipper shut.

I went to the United baggage claim where Godzilla and Quasimodo were working to register my complaint and needless to say all I came away with was some conversation and mal di stomaco.

This is a very long story that I am going to condense quickly.

Back at home, during the course of a couple of day after about 7 total hours on the phone with TSA and United, they admitted one of their baggage handlers stole my compressor but they were not going to do anything to replace it. My jaws were harder than woodpeckers lips.

I asked one of the female comedians that works with United what I should do in the future to prevent this from happening again. She told me to BUY a compressor when I got to may destination. She must have graduated from charm school with honors.

The same comedian told me that if it was an international flight the compressor would have been covered by insurance. Naturally I asked; are there different thieves that work the international than domestic flights? No response.

It was not the cost of the compressor that bothered me, it was the lack of consideration and the policies of the “not so Friendly Sky” they implement.

Customer satisfaction used to be a big thing with all of the airlines.  Not anymore! They are making too much money.

I give 4 thumbs down to United for their honesty and customer service.
