Passenger charged with punching flight attendant:
A man who punched a flight attendant on a Los Angeles-bound jetliner has been charged with interfering with a flight crew. I think it should be assault and battery and endangering other.
The FBI says 53-year-old Edgar Nonga of Lakewood, Calif. was charged with the federal offense on Monday. His bail was set at $10,000.
Nonga got drunk during a Philippine Airlines flight from Manila to LA over the weekend and got angry when he was refused more drinks.
After swearing up a storm Nonga punched the attendant twice, one of the punches to the face. The crew, with help from at least five passengers, restrained him and he was arrested Sunday morning when the plane landed.
I think the airlines should carry a couple of straight jackets on each flight to deal with out of control passengers.
He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
This is a double edged sword. If the airline do not want drunk people on their planes they should not serve booze. If it is detected that a passenger is drunk while boarding, they should be turned back.
On one recent flight a passenger got so out of control he was duck taped to his seat. In another incident of the nuts cases was running up and down the tarmac naked.
It is a multimillion dollar business selling “Fire Water” on planes in which the Friendly Skies rather put up with the drunks than give up the revenue. Tell that to all of the attendants that get punched in the face and abused on a routine basis.
Can’t always have it both ways.
