Mr Putin has a ninth-degree, compared to Norris’s eighth-degree black belt which for all intents and purposes makes Putin the more deadly or qualified in the martial arts.
Anyone that knows anything about the martial arts knows that a persons rank is not necessarily an indicator of the capabilities. Many times because of political circumstances a person is given an honorary rank for prestigious purposes.
Upon receiving his honour, Putin said: ‘I don’t think I have earned such a high Dan’.
Russian president Vladimir Putin has been awarded the highest rank in Tae Kwon Do, giving him honorary grandmaster status. It means the president has attained a higher ranking than former US martial artist Chuck Norris. The actor has an eight-degree black belt, while Mr Putin has a ninth-degree.
Personally I don’t think that Vladimir (His friends call him Val) would want to throw hands with Chuck.
The president does not practice Tae Kwon Do, but holds a black belt in Judo and has been awarded an eighth Dan in the martial art by the International Judo Federation. He may have earned his Judo rank but I doubt it.
It is like Elvis making Staff sergeant in under 2 years when he served in the Army. That is not the run of the mill practice in the military.
In the Marine Corps back in the 50’s and 60’s, it would take someone 7 – 8 years to attain that rank, that is if they kept their nose clean.
According to MAIL ON LINE; President Barack Obama reportedly received an honorary black belt in Tae Kwon Do in 2009.
With those facts in hand I have a suggestion on how to resolve Obama’s and Putin’s misunderstandings; put the gloves on and settle it the way they used to in the old days.
I can tell by Obama’s stance he better have his corner throw in the towel before the fight starts.
