President Barack Obama honored 24 Army veterans with the Medal of Honor — the country’s highest military award, given to American soldiers who display “gallantry above and beyond the call of duty ” — for their combat actions in Vietnam, Korea and World War II.

Only three of the soldiers are alive to receive the recognition.
Of the 24 honored, 10 never came home. The body of one — Cpl. Joe Baldonado — has never been recovered.
It is a shame that it took 40 years to give these brave men like Melvin Morris that went above and beyond the call of duty the recognition they so richly deserved.
People like Melvin Morris are the “unsung heroes” of the United States and someone to be held in the highest esteem. More prejudice people on “all sides of the fence” should take a lesson from him and we would have a much better world to live in.
If you notice in the interview the reporter asked Melvin if he experienced any prejudice while in the service. Melvin’s answer was “NO; we made it work.”
Let him be an example to all of the rebel-rousing agitators out there. Race relations can be turned around if everyone “made it work”.
