Egypt court sentences 529 Muslim Brotherhood backers to death after just 2 days of hearings:

You can bet that these Muslim Brothers won’t get 20 years on death row with TV’s in their air-conditioned cells, weight-rooms, and a library where they can learn the law so they can harass the government.

CAIRO — A court in Egypt convicted 529 supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi and sentenced them to death on charges of murdering a policeman and attacking police in one of the largest mass trials in the country in decades.

A many as 150 stood trial in the unusually quick trial that lasted only two days; some were tried in absentia and  sixteen suspects were acquitted.

If trial of this magnitude with 529 defendants was held in the USA it would last at least 481 years (11 months for each defendant ) if it was conducted the same way OJ Simpson’s “joke of the century” was. Almost all of the ambulance chasers in the country would be-able to retire after that one.

They have various way of “taking out their trash” in the land of the Dromedary and pyramids.  Sometime back, 38 Muslim prisoners were killed by asphyxiation with tear gas while locked inside the back of a truck. It seems to be clean and easy. I guess a couple can of tear gas canisters are cheaper than a couple clips of ammo. Naturally the government claimed it was accidental.

I don’t know if there really is a fool proof way to deal with criminals to cut down on the crime rate. One thing I do know, it costs a hell of a lot of taxpayers money to house them for the rest of their lives or for 20 years until their appeals run out. The average cost to house one prisoner for one year in a federal prison is about $ 22,000.00.

Maybe the officials in the USA should take notice on how other countries cut down on their expenses they can learn something from them.
