Payin’ Putin: As Ukraine crisis simmers, NASA to pay Russia $71M for rocket ride:
As we say where I come from “you gotta be shitting me!”
The U.S. will pay Russia $70.7 million for a single shuttle ride aboard the country’s Soyuz rocket Tuesday night, even as President Barack Obama fights for sanctions and penalties against Russia for its recent invasion of the Ukraine.
The country that was first to land on the moon and once the leader in the space race is now paying Russia 70.7 million dollars to hitch a ride to the space shuttle; all because the U.S. doesn’t have its own way to get astronauts into space. Talk about going down the tubes!!
Last April, NASA signed a new agreement with Russia governing six flights through 2017, at a cost of $70.7 million per seat. That comes out to a grand total of 424.20 million for the six trips.
First of all, what is so important that the USA needs to send an astronaut into space at this time? I bet all of the people in our country that are TRULY in dire straights are very happy to see the way their government is pissing away money that should be going to them. It is incomprehensible.
At a time like this when the Obama and Putin are having their marital squabble, should the USA be coughing up 70.7 million dollars per space shuttle ride to Russia? How bad can a guy look?
This transaction was not done with an American Express card either; it was upfront money.
To me this is just another embarrassing situation the USA is in who presently is the laughing stock of the world.
What besides bragging right, what has any of the countries that managed to get into space achieved? Has anyone came back with a cure for cancer or some other dreadful disease? Just a few moon rocks and one hell of a bill to pay off.
When we combine all of the foolish and unnecessary situations the USA has gotten itself into in the last 20 years, we wonder why the country is broke.
These DC dudes spend money like a drunk sailor. They have absolutely no respect for the taxpayers money.
Not that anyone is keeping score but who do you think is getting the upper hand in this squabble between Putin and Obama?
