Rand Paul: ‘I Want All Pilots To Be Armed’:
Bad idea Paul.
This is all well and good if we could be assured that the ALL pilots were well trained in the use of the fire arms and do not come to work drunk or on drugs.
How many of these dudes would pull a Barney like on Mayberry and shot them-self in the foot?
The following is a good article to read about pilots that are juiced up at the stick.

I agree that there needs to be more security in the air but when all is said and done it always comes down to the bucks.
After 911 there was a push for armed US Marshall’s to be on every flight but that great idea lasted about 30 minutes. This is what these guys are trained for.
The airline have increased rates and any fee they could think of dramatically in the last few years. They began charging for pillows, blankets, cut the food ration down to nuts and started charging for checked in bags. They are making a fortune.
When it comes to the safety of the passengers that comes in like the horse I bet on the other day. There were some estimates that just last year, all the airlines combined made 2.5 BILLION dollars just charging for checked bags.
The marshals at the low end of the pay scale make about 39,000.00 a year or 750.00 a week. Cut that up into a 40 hour week, they are making 18.75 an hour. That comes to a whopping 150.00 a day; 1/5 the price of most tickets. I think that airlines can afford that, if not cut out the stale nuts.
I think it would be a lot safer and better controlled if a well-trained marshal was on board EVER flight instead of arming the pilots.
Who is going to fly the plane if the co-pilot is sleeping and the pilot is fending off a terrorist???
