A giant case of forgery

Chinese automaker blatantly copies Ford F-150:

When people are not creative enough to design and develop their own product; what do they do; copy someone else’s product.

This is exactly what the Chinese auto maker did by making  a K-1 by copying  the Ford 150. Is cpoying taboo in the land of fried rice? Not really. I would say it is more customary than not.

On the other side of the coin I think Ford was shafting the Chinese people by selling their F-150 for the US equivalent of a whopping $160,000.00.

The exact same truck sells for $26,000.00 in the USA. There must be one hell of an import tax for Ford to put a 160 K price tag on the vehicle.

In order to level the playing field or in this case knock Ford out of the box, the The Jiangsu Kawei K1 was copy-catted and put on the market for 1/10 of what the American truck costs, $16,000.00.

Personally I like the look of the K-1 more than the F-150.

Who can anyone blame the Chinese for buying the cheaper model?

There are some noticeable differences such as, only available in two-wheel-drive – it is powered by either a 140 hp gasoline or 105 hp diesel engine, has a 5-speed manual transmission and tops out at 80 mph. How much faster can anyone go in a country that is so heavily populated? These differences can not justify such a disparity in prices.

I am sure that there will be some wealthy Chinese people that buy the F-150 instead of the K-1 just as a status symbol. The American people call it signifying.

In the land of the “knock offs” this shouldn’t be any big surprise to anyone. This industrious country has been coping everything imaginable for many years but now they are stepping up their game into bigger toys.

Naturally, the ambulance chasers for the Ford Motor Company are looking into the legal aspects of this Chinese Copycat. If in fact Ford does win a judgement and I doubt it,  how do they collect their damages? The Chinese will just tell them to go back to the “Motor City”.

Possibly Ford should hire Charlie Chan and his # 1 son to assist them.
