You want to talk about being a racist; Eric Holder has to be leading the parade when it comes to that department. Every chance he gets he stokes the fires for some unknown reason. It is time for him to set a different tone by setting a better example than in the past.
I would think that as a supposedly intelligent man as his position dictates, he should be especially being the Attorney General of the USA, Holder would do everything in his power to try and refrain from racists comments and attempt to focus on the positive side of the issues instead of the negative to try and move the country forward. He should keep his personal thoughts and remarks to himself.
When he made a comment on his maiden voyage on national TV calling the United States a “nation of cowards” on race he surly got off on the wrong foot as far as a lot people were concerned. To this day he refuses to back down on that insightful statement.
It was a hell of a way to introduce himself to the world. He was bound and determined to declare himself and he surely did.
When a person in a very prestigious position such as Holder is in makes statements such as that; what type of response does he expect to receive from the general public?
If Mr. Holder truly feels, as he says “I think we are still a nation that is too afraid to confront racial issues”; if he wanted to see the country progressing instead of regressing, he should initiate some sort of programs to try to educate and bring all of the American people together. Lead by example.
People are going to have different opinions, different likes and dislikes because that is human nature. One word can solve most of the social problems we face and that word is RESPECT. You don’t have to like me and I don’t have to like you but if we RESPECT one other that would eliminate most of the animosity we deal with on a daily basis. It is wishful thinking but I don’t ever see that happening because of people such as Holder.
Looking at his comments from another angle; I would think that his boss would put a muzzle on the guy if he didn’t like what he was saying.
Holder may be correct when he says the nation is afraid to address the racial issues. Progress can be made by intelligent dialog; if it is presented the correct and constructive way by the leaders of our country if they really wanted to see a change. Pissing everyone off at every junction is not what I would considered constructive.
This broke record of racism from some of the top black leaders in this country is getting very old. What the hell are they doing to try and correct it or suppress racism??? Not very much.
If racial harmony did exist they would be out of business; that is why they keep beating the pig.
Holder threw down the race card and said on national television that at least some of the political resistance that he and President Obama face is due to the color of their skin.
“There’s a certain level of vehemence, it seems to me, that’s directed at me [and] directed at the president,” Mr. Holder “You know, people talking about taking their country back. … There’s a certain racial component to this for some people. I don’t think this is the thing that is a main driver, but for some, there’s a racial animus.”
I don’t know what he is looking at but the black population only makes up 19% of the population in the USA. There had to be a few “honkies” that voted for Obama.
There are a couple of reasons that other people then black people voted for Obama. First they were sick and tired of what the republicans’ did to this country for 8 years under the Cheney administration. Secondly they voted for Obama just because he is a half white and a half black man and wanted to demonstrate to the world that the USA primarily not a racist country. Lastly, we have the free-loaders in this country that consider the “W” (work) word a swear word.
Racial issues will always exist among people but it is incumbent that the leaders of any country do their best to set good examples. It is just like the parents of a family; it is up to the parents to try to keep their kids together by setting good examples for them.
Holder did make a few positive remarks along the way; the country is “a fundamentally better place than we were 50 years ago.” I am glad he sees a little progress being made. He can help out immensely if he wanted to.
“We’ve made lots of progress,” he said, referring to his status as the first black attorney general and Mr. Obama’s status as the first black president. “And that has to show that we have made a great deal of progress. But there’s still more we have to travel along this road so we get to the place that is consistent with our founding ideals.”
I do agree with him. What Mr. Holder has to do is put his money where his mouth is and start setting good example and possible it will rub off on some of the other black leaders. That fiery rhetoric they keep spouting out is doing more harm than good.
