Congressman Who Voted Against Minimum Wage Hike Complains He Hasn’t Gotten A Raise:
The old say goes something like this; “if you can’t say anything intelligent keep that flytrap shut”.
Now I know you guys are going to get technical on me but they are all in the same family.
A pig is a swine – a big swine is a hog and this hog is a congressman.
According to this pathetic politician Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) the members of congress can’t afford a pay cut because its last salary increase occurred six years ago. My heart and I am sure many other hearts are bleeding for this pen dweller.
Terry’s challenger in an up and coming election Sen. Brad Ashford on Monday suggested that lawmakers’ cut their salary by 10 percent and, if elected, would voluntarily return that amount until he gets the cut passed.
“What he’s not telling you is that Congress hasn’t had a cost of living increase since 2008, when I led the charge for a freeze,” Terry shot back, according to KMTV.
The last pay raise that members of Congress voted for themselves was a $5,000 boost back in 2009. Since then, (I am sure it is not to their liking) concerns over the nation’s debt and the recession have led to a pay freeze for federal employees.
This will really make you want to slit your wrists in sympathy for this high-flying, do nothing prima-donna. The lowest paid congressman makes $174,000 per year. The Speaker of the House gets $223,500 a year, while the majority and minority leaders of both the Senate and the House, along with the President Pro Tempore, get paid $193,400 per year.
Although Brad Ashford’s recommendation to cut the congressmen’s pay by 10% is admirable, it will never pass. The rest of the crew are too greedy. Let’s hope that these guys will never have to give up their cooks, housekeepers and some of their perks, that would be disastrous.
Let us not forget that these are the same people that voted to keep their pay coming in if the government was going to shut down a few months ago. Not a concern for the taxpayers but they wanted to CTOA (cover their own ass).
There is only one poll in DC that is lower than Obama’s and that is the poll for congress. It is at an all-time low of 79%.
To break that down for some of the readers that had their calculator go on the fritz recently; that means that 21% of the Americans that were polled think that congress is doing a good to fair job. I would have to conclude that the 21% are living under a rock, residing in a mental hospital or relatives of these underachievers.
