Definitely overkill

The report is out. The autopsy has been performed on Michael Brown’s body by noted forensic examiner Michael Baden.  The results are not favorable on the side of the authorities.

According to the autopsy Brown was shot 6 times; 4 times in the right arm and two shoots to the head. I would think in anyone’s book that would be considered overkill.

As the story goes, Brown was walking down the middle of the street with a rappie and obstructing traffic; something I would not consider a major offense. The cop identified as Wilson pulled up to the pair, they exchanged words. The cop attempted out get out of the car to get the pair out of the street. Brown who was not a little guy, standing 6’4” and 300 pounds slammed the door on the cop car and knocked the cop back into the car than began assaulting him by punching him in the face. Not a very smart thing to do.

The fact that Brown was involved in a strong-arm hold up just prior to this incident had nothing to do with the shooting. Be that as it may,  this would be an indicator that Brown was a trouble maker who had previous brushes with the law.  That fact alone could have come into play in the cops mind that the kid was dangerous.

Wilson finally got out of the car and according to witnesses; Brown was walking away backwards with his hands up when Wilson shoot him 6 times.

I don’t care if the cop was white, black or green or if Brown was white, black or green; in my opinion what Wilson did was “overkill” by shooting the kid 6 times.

Based on the actual circumstances that are not clear at this time, 1 or 2 shoots, maybe 3 to stop the 300 pound attacker would have been sufficient if in fact the cop felt his life was in danger. If Brown was backing away with his hands up that is an entirely new ball game.

On the other side of the coin, it is very easy to be a “Sunday morning quarterback” and jump on the “judgment band wagon” after the fact. No one but the cop that was confronted with this type of situation can relate to just what type of mind-set he had at that time.

Personally I would not want to be a cop in today’s unpredictable, violent society.

The vast majority of the cops are decent guys that are trying to make a living to support their families but in the mix there are always a few wack jobs out there who are out of control. Wilson was with the department for 6 years and had a clean record.

I think based on the circumstance; the cop that shot Brown should be relieved of duty, put on house arrest at the least and have the court systems do their duty in a fair and unbiased manner.  This alone may put the out of control hoodlums that are rioting and looting in the penalty box for awhile. .

I still say the rioters and looters  should be held accountable for their actions and if necessary severely dealt with.  A person can be killed as easily with a brick or a rock as they can with a bullet.
