GAO report finds thousands of government workers on paid leave, costing taxpayers millions:
Only in the USA do the “foul balls” and rule breakers that work for the government get sent home and paid for their misbehaving.
Who in the name of sanity is watching the purse strings???
Thousands of federal workers who have been put on administrative leave for more than a month have been allowed to collect a paycheck, and accrue vacation days and pension benefits, while taxpayers were forced to foot the multi-million-dollar bill, according to a new report from the Government Accountability Office.
Government employees who broken the rules – meaning they were cited for being untrustworthy or had ongoing issues with co-workers or their bosses — were allowed to remain on leave for large chunks of time while they challenged their demotions.
It is a fact of life that ANYTHING the government is involved in is a monumental disaster and a joke. There are too many PC’ers and outlandish regulations that enable these rule breakers to fleece the government the way they do.
This is nothing new. It has been going on for decades.
In corporate America, when someone gets out of line or is caught not doing their job they can be fired immediately. These should be the same guide lines used for government workers.
It has been proven time and time again; when people are not dealing with their own money they have no respect for it and government workers from the prez down are shinning examples of that.
What gives anyone the incentive to do a good job if they know they will be put on administrative leave with full pay indefinitely if they screw up?
During a three-year period, more than 57,000 employees were told to go home – and stay home — for 30 days or more, costing taxpayers $775 million in salary alone. The report found that 53,000 civilian employees were kept home for one to three months. Another 4,000 were kept off the job for three months to a year and hundreds more for one to three years.
It is no wonder that the USA has one foot on a banana peeling and the other foot in a bucket of financial grease. Who is supposed to be watching the store? Apparently no one.
Hold on to your hats sports fans; the day of reckoning isn’t far off and it won’t be pretty. There are only so many different ways to milk and abuse the system before it comes and bites you in the ass.
The biggest problem the USA has at this point beside terrorism and ebola that is going to affect its financial stability in the world is the national debt. I have NOT seen or heard ANY of the politicians addressing this issue.
Take a look at the real time national debt and make sure you are near “the head” (military for the shitter) for when you throw-up. That in itself is going to put the USA on the skids and bury this country.
All of the politicians have their heads in the sand hoping it is going to go away. Never happen.
I have the solution to these problems that are haunting this country. The president should hire another 500 or 600 Czars that have no experience in the fields to straighten out the mess.
