Unsung heroes

Unsung heroes:  A heartwarming story

Little did some of the student from Brenham High School know that by using their ingenuity, a 3D printer and for $ 1,500.00 they could change the life of a little boy forever.

Kaeden Olsen was born with a condition known as Amniotic Band Syndrome where he only has one partial finger on his right hand.

“We’ve done bracelets. We’ve done I-phone cases,” said computer science teacher Trenton Hall.

Purchased just last year, the printer was intended to give students real life experience in computer-aided design and construction. When Kaeden’s mother heard about the 3 D printer the school had and how they were able to duplicate items with the new technology, she made an inquiry to see if they could possibly make a mechanical prosthetics for her son.

Low and behold here curiosity was satisfied and her prayers were answered when the students were able to make her son a mechanical hand.

We built a computer, stuff like that,” said student Jacqui Deans. “But I never thought we would be changing someone’s life.”

Change someone’s life they did. The good students at Brenham High School have made a commitment to continue making more mechanical hands free of charge for Kaeden as he grows.

With all of the unpleasant and tragic news in the media these days, it is refreshing to do a post on good people and something positive.

Keep it coming folks.
