Raiders’ Menelik Watson Gives Game Check to 4-Year-Old with Heart Condition:
Here is a heartwarming story to start out your workweek sports fans.
Raiders’ Menelik Watson opened up his heart and better yet opened up his wallet, donating his entire check for the week to a little 4 year old girl Ava Urrea who has a heart condition. His donation had to be a very sizable amount estimated at $36,940.00. After taxes the Urrea family should get about $18,000.00.
Watson’s base salary is $623,000.00 a year. That is not chump change but he is not making 20 mill like for of the other players. Hopefully this wonderful ailment that just came over Watson will be contagious and his fellow teammates will get bitten by the same bug.
I definitely would show a little class on the part of our government that pisses away trillions of dollars by making this donation tax free. Don’t bet on it.
With all of the dysfunctionality going on in the NFL these days, the majority of the players are good and decent people. Kindness like this overshadows their out of control teammates by their involvement in off the field in charities and acts of goodwill.
There is no one at this time that is a better example of being a stand-up man and a role model for the rest of his peers to follow then Menelik Watson.
It is not about race, religion or nationality, it is about one human being having compassion of another. By the way; the recipient of his very generous donation is white.
Menelik is 6’ 5” and weighs in at 315 pounds. This giant of a man saw a little 4 year old girl in distress and came up shooting like a western hero riding into town on his steed.
In life it is not what a person does that they are compelled to do, it is what a person does when they are not obligated; that shows their true character.
What Watson did should be an example that people are just people and their color should not matter.
My hat is off to you Mr. Menelik Watson for his act of kindness. You are a class act!!!!!
