Florida teen to be honored for helping to save life of booking police officer:
Instead of being slammed for his parole violation this teenaged bad boy Jamal Rutledge 17 is being honored for his assistance in saving the cops life that was booking him.
On Jan. 21 Jamal Rutledge and three officers will be honored for saving the life of Officer Franklin Foulks.
On Sept. 10 2104 Jamal was being booked at the police station for a violation of his probation by committing burglary and other violations of imposed conditions.
Out of nowhere officer Foulks the booking officer suddenly dropped to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Sitting nearby in a fenced in area Rutledge began kicking the security fence and screaming to alert other officers that their colleague was in distress. Hey man, this mo……..er dying, get your ass over here!!
After hearing the prisoners screams the cavalry charged into the booking room where they found Foulks lying on the floor. Sgt. Todd Bunin removed Foulkes’ police gear and cut off his shirt, while Officer Robert Norvis performed CPR and Officer Raymond Ketchmark used a defibrillator in an effort to restart Foulks’ heart.
Without the prisoner Jamal alerting the cops that their buddy was dying (even if his language was questionable) the officer would have died.
Jamal went from a prisoner to a hero in 10 seconds. Maybe the cops will take this kid under their wing and turn him down the right road. Looks like a good kid.
It was not stated whether Jamal would be held accountable for his probation violation and his use of vulgar language in public. I hope they cut him some slack.
