2 dead babies wrapped in linens mistakenly sent to laundry facility:
Yesterday in a Vegas Hospital (name withheld because of embarrassment) two babies that died were wrapped in linen and somehow got placed in the conveyance that was sent to the hospitals laundry.
When the worker in the laundry were sorting through the soiled linen they came across the two dead babies.
Spokesman for the HEALTH-CARE facility had no explanation how the bodies of two dead babies got mixed up in the dirty laundry.
Naturally, the investigation is ongoing.
I had a very good friend that was in the hospital a while back. I was talking to her doctor about her condition and the doctor told me we better get her out of this hospital before they kill her.
I am not talking about any rum-dumb hospital, it is one of the better ones in the country.
He was absolutely correct. One of the most dangerous places to be when you are sick or having a procedure is in the hospital.
1999 Institute of Medicine Report
The 1999 Institute of Medicine Report concluded that from 44,000 to 98,000 people die annually due to errors in inpatient hospital treatment.
This statistic dated in 1999 sounds preposterous but is factual. As a barometer; the population of Ogden, Utah in 2013 was 84,249. That would be like killing all the people that live there. Can we even imagine what the fatality numbers have climbed to in 16 years.
Unfortunately we are in an untenable situation when we are sick. Like my cousins in WVA would say, we are between a rock and a hard place.
Going to the hospital in some cases can be compared to a Vegas situation. We roll the dice and hope we come out in one piece.
Take three aspirin and call me in the morning.
