More than just an insurance salescritter

The little critter gecko isn’t only good at being the spokescritter for the Geico Insurance Company; now scientists are inspecting and dissecting the little guy for possible using some of his/hers physical characteristics in outer space to assist the astronauts.

What mankind does know about the mini reptile is, they have the ability to adhere to vertical  surfaces due to the hairs, an unusual configuration and a special chemical adhesive called setae they have on their feet.

gggg                gg

When they are climbing and compress their foot on any surface the chemical and hairs are activated. When they pick up their foot to move, that sequence is deactivated. Just another wonder of nature.

If the scientists can duplicate this phenomenon and apply it to the astronaut’s appendages, it would be a significant breakthrough and development in assisting the spacewalkers to perform some tasks that were impossible or very difficult to do without this innovation.

The next you are watching the little guy giving his spiel on TV tonight; I think you will  appreciate him a little more.

A point of concern; the pilot of the helicopter that landed on that aircraft carrier should have more consideration and got a lot closer to the captain of the ship. The poor gecko had to be exhausted by the time he got to talk to the skipper.
