Who can we trust?? The need for greed!!

Study finds breast cancer overtreatment costs US $4B per year:

WASHINGTON – Sharpening a medical debate about the costs and benefits of cancer screening, a new report estimates that the U.S. spends $4 billion a year on unnecessary medical costs due to mammograms that generate false alarms, and on treatment of certain breast tumors unlikely to cause problems.

In the study with the journal of Health Affairs; it shows $2.8 billion was generated last year as a resulting from false-positive mammograms and another $1.2 billion attributed to breast cancer over diagnosis; meaning some of the tumors deliberately treated by the medical professionals were growing so slow or not at all that they were unlikely to develop into life-threatening disease during the woman’s life.

Reports like this are sickening and give the entire medical community a big black eye. The doctors and the hospitals that are involved in these unnecessary procedures are as bad or worse as the guy who goes into a bank with an AKA-47 to rob it. Difference being, most of the time the robber doesn’t shoot anyone.

There are 1,000’s of operations each year that are performed which are totally unnecessary, just for the fees.  What kind of stone cold person would deliberately slice someone open and sew them back up just to make a buck? I would say that the Hippocratic Oath some doctors have taken fits the hypocrites to a “T”.

Unnecessary surgery exposed! Why 60% of all surgeries are medically unjustified and how surgeons exploit patients to generate profits:

It is a little unnerving to think that your own doctor, the person we put our life in their hands may be a John Dillinger wearing a white jacket.

It truly is a disgrace that a few of the bad apples in the medical field or any significant profession spoil the whole barrel. Thankfully there are more good guys than bad guys.

Old school Americans were brought up to trust and respect people in certain positions in society; doctors, priests, politicians, lawmakers, teachers, policemen etc. What a decline we have seen in recent years with the credibility of some of these people.

The whole thing boils down to for some; the need for greed at all costs. It appears that the most greedy people are the ones with the most money. They never have enough.

To be fair to all sides; there are many incidents where the patients are not forthcoming with their doctors so they may be treated properly. As a result, there are a significant number of missed diagnosis because of their deception.

If we are not honest about our ailments or bad habits how can the doctor resolve our problems? For those offenders; they are only fooling themselves.
