Two entirely different cultures

Duke rebuke: Professor defiant after school condemns racially charged remarks:

A  Political Science Professor Jerry Hough at Duke University stood by his questionable comments after the school last week condemned his “noxious” and “offensive” words in a letter published in The New York Times in which he compared African-Americans unfavorably to Asian-Americans.

nn

The school’s rebuke came after a student backlash against Hough, whose May 9 letter sought to address racism and the Baltimore riots. I see nothing wrong with that. Does the truth hurt? Maybe it should.

Hough said African-Americans don’t try to integrate into society, while Asians worked doubly hard to overcome racism instead of blaming it.

Every Asian student has a very simple old American first name that symbolizes their desire for integration, he wrote on May 10. Virtually every black has a strange new name that symbolizes their lack of desire for integration.

In some respects the prof went to extremes or was unable to express himself correctly.

On the other side of the coin I do agree that some black Americans’ do want to set themselves apart from the rest of the world. One of the indicators are the names that they are given or assume.

I do not contend that what they are doing is wrong; name their kids whatever they want, they entitled to live their lives as they see fit, as long as they are good, law abiding Americans’.

As far as the Asian population goes; the secret to their success is family unity and strong values. The vast majority of them have a 2 parent household; they are taught respect and good work ethics from birth and that is what makes them succeed.

Just the opposite is the case in a large percentage of black families.

April 21st 2011 – Newsone for black America

72 Percent of Black Kids Raised By Single Parent.

This was date 4 years ago. I am sure that the percentage has gone up.

It is a fact of life that in order to maintain certain levels of behavior and education in a family, it is best suited to a 2 parent household. All kids need a father and a mother figure.

The New York Times

Feb 21, 2008 – Still, more than 1 in 4 children were living with only one parent. The proportion who lived with two parents varied widely by race and ethnicity — 87 percent of Asians, 78 percent of non-Hispanic whites, 68 percent of Hispanics and 38 percent of blacks.

In a vast percentage of a 2 parent household there is a structure that demands respect, hard work, EDUCATION, self-sufficiency and many other values that produce productive citizens.

Because of the liberal/rebellious mentality, the crime rate and the lack of upstanding role models, this scenario in the black community is not going to change unless some drastic changes are made.

When we see some Dude bragging that he has 34 kids with 17 different women; it is outrageous. This Dude doesn’t even know the name of most of his kids.

The way our society has evolved, these traits have trickled down to families of other races as well. There has never been this much public unrest and lawlessness as we see in our country today.

The shootout at the OK Corral in Waco Texas is a good example of that. I would be willing to bet that the majority of the bikers came from dysfunctional families.

The parrot (ME) is at it again. If this country does not start EDUCATING its kids in the proper manner from infancy ASAP, the violence we are experiencing  around the country is only going to continue to escalate. The majority of it stems from the lack of parental control when the kids were small as well as the lack of EDUCATION.

Start bending the tree when it is young. When a tree is very small it is very flexible, pliable and can be bent anyway. If it is bent the wrong way, it will grow to be crooked and it is impossible to bend.

I don’t care how much money the government comes up with; how many multi-billion dollar commissions they set up to ascertain our social problems; without EDUCATION they are just pissing up a rope. Quite possibly the government needs a good EDUCATION.

Is it possible that the powers to be do not understand what is meant by EDUCATION? There are so many facets that EDUACTION encompasses they are too numerous to mention. The main characteristics are behavior, respect, responsibility, honesty, dependability, develop self-esteem, respect for the law just to mention a few.  Then we get down to the scholastics of EDUCATION to make up the complete package.

Expounding on the Asian people’s discipline; we all should know that the martial arts originated in the Asia, it was and still is practiced as a way of life.

In the study of the martial arts, if instructed correctly, students are first taught the fundamentals of life, behavior responsibilities and they slowly advance to the more complex areas such as self-defense. In the martial arts, self-defense is secondary. A poor student can not be a good teacher! The key word to the martial arts is respect. It is symbolized by bowing.

The primary education starts with the development of the student’s behavior and discipline. Without the basic fundamentals solidly in place, the make believe martial artist is just another thug with a belt around their waist.

Whose fault is it when the fundamentals are not taught properly to a student?  Their teacher; the father or mother figure in their martial arts family. The teachers are essentially the students martial arts parents while they are in training. Without good fundamentals and a solid foundation in all phases of our lives, what we have constructed a weak structure.

I think I have explained the difference between the positive and socially aggressive personal characteristics of the Asia people compared to black Americans’ well enough for even the professors at Duke to understand.

One very important lesson in life to learn; out of control situations do not remedy themselves. When we stick our heads in the sand and attempt to ignore the obvious problems surrounding us; when we finally pull out our head the problem still exists. Most probably by then it is too late.

This would be a good lesson for our government officials to implement but they are too busy sticking their heads in the sand.

vvv

Who are the sand dwellers fooling? Only themselves and in the process hurting the country.
