Man dies after shooting off firework from top of his head:
I hate to say this; the world may be a safer place without guys like this running around.
How smart does anyone have to be to put a mortar tube firecracker on their head and set it off?
I guess Devon Staples from the Lobster State of Maine had to find out the hard way or should we say the ultimate way that cost him his life.
Devon and some of his friends were drinking, celebrating and who knows what else on the 4th of July when he had the bright idea of putting a small bomb on his head and lighting the fuse. Curious George didn’t get to tell his buddies how it felt. He died instantly when the bomb ignited.
Devon is not the only person that had to learn the hard way. The Consumer Products Safety Commission released a report on in 2011 that found; fireworks caused an estimated 17,800 reported fires, including 1,200 total structure fires, 400 vehicle fires, and 16,300 outside and other fires. These fires resulted in an estimated 40 civilian injuries and $32 million in direct property damage.
There are solutions to some of these mishaps. Just like booze at sporting events, tobacco that is accessible to the young and now dope; instead of outlawing products that are hazardous and dangerous to the public’s health the lawmakers promote the use of them.
As long as the government and corporate America can make a buck on their sale they will remain on the market.
