A good move on Mr.O’s part

WASHINGTON — President Obama granted clemency Monday to 46 men and women who faced decades in prison for non-violent, drug offenses, part of an overall effort to address sentencing disparities nationwide.

I think it was a good move for Mr. O to set some of these people free that had unjust sentences. In this country, as I am sure it is universal; some people are sentence not by the severity of the crime but it is based on how much molla their daddy is worth or who they are connected to.

Through the years there have been situations where some POOR SLOB got a stiffer sentence for jay-walking then some well-connected dude did for murder.

What I would like to see is a follow-up on how straight these people stay once they are let out of slams. The recidivism rate is astronomical.

Clemency is nothing new to presidents and governors. They usually exercise this right when they are short-timers; that way if they piss someone off they do not have to worry about voting backlash. It is the PC thing to do.

On the other hand there have been many people who received clemency that didn’t deserve it but their grand-pappy was a big con-tri-buter to the election of the guy that signed them out.  That is called the good old boys, political way of taking care of business.

If early release is done in a fair and impartial manner, it is great but that is not always the case.

Hopefully the guys that Obama released are halfway decent people who just caught a bad break.  Optimistically they have learned how to keep their nose clean.
