Sanctuary cities are a detriment to law-enforcement:
This crazy law allows illegal aliens in the USA somewhere to hide in plain site and they are protected from some of the laws of the land.
The law reminds me of the old days when the bootleggers could flee from the cops, cross a city’s limits line and be protected in an un-incorporated city or town. The cops actually had to discontinue the chase when the bootleggers or a criminal crossed the line because the city was unincorporated. Kind of humerous.
I heard about this ridiculous law recently but didn’t know that it has been enforced since the 1979 in LA (where else) and was picked up by other PC, bleeding hearted do-gooders in the 80’s.
It has been a long standing issue with law-enforcement that they do not have co-operation between agencies; the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing. If this is not a prime example, I don’t know what is?
Some major crimes/disasters in the USA, like the destruction of the World Trade Tower have been attributed agencies not communicating between each-other. The FBI and the Secret Service are good example of those flagrant departments.
The law prevents police from inquiring about the immigration status of arrestees. The internal policy, “Special Order 40,” states: “Officers shall not initiate police action with the objective of discovering the alien status of a person.
Makes no sense to me. If a person does not have anything to hide; just like going thru security at the airports, why do they object??? Personally I feel better knowing that someone is watching the store. If they are a degenerate criminal; than I can understand their negativity.
Wikipedia:
Some of the 31 American cities and States involved are Washington, D.C.; New York City; Jersey City; Los Angeles; Philadelphia, San Francisco; Santa Ana; San Diego; San Jose; Oakland; Salt Lake City; Houston; Detroit; Chicago; Salinas, California; Minneapolis; Miami; Denver; Baltimore; Seattle; Portland, Oregon; New Haven; Somerville; Cambridge; and Portland, Maine.
These cities have adopted “sanctuary” ordinances banning city employees and police officers from asking people about their immigration status.
How in the hell can policemen do their jobs effectively if some nit-wit puts handcuffs on them?
We have witnessed in the last few months a multitude of crimes perpetrated by illegals. Many of these people are rejects from their own country, coming to the USA and pulling off crime after crime, including murder. After the fact they are treated with kid gloves, dictated by the laws. If laws like sanctuary cities and the kind didn’t exist it would be a it easier to control things.
One of the major problems we have in this country is communications and co-operation between law enforcement and governmental agencies. They all want to be the first one on the scene and the only one to get credit for the bust.
This very critical topic has been discussed many times but it seems that they are all talking to the hand.
I say; abolish sanctuary cities and start to establish guidelines that will enable law-enforcement to have an easier time performing their already most difficult tasks.
Take the handcuffs of these guys.
I was just talking to a good friend of mine. We have discussed the topics of intelligence and common-sense many times. The supposedly intelligent people in this country that write the laws, whether in construction manual or the laws that govern the land; if it is not documented somewhere in a journal; they cannot understand it. They have a vast amount of book knowledge but one ounce of common or street sense.
I will always take the latter.
