I will give Trump 5%, maybe

I think that the Trumpster is only correct in a very small percentage when he stating that that all teachers should carry guns.  The way I see it is; there are many more minuses to that idea than pluses.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/03/politics/donald-trump-oregon-shooting-armed-teachers/index.html

He looked more then a little foolish in the video with his quick draw exhibition.

To start with; it is unconscionable that our country may have to resort to such drastic measures to insure the safety of teachers and students!! But drastic measures call for drastic actions. That time has all ready passed.

There are some pluses to pistol packing teachers but a very small percentage, if not more downsides.

# 1 it would be a deterrent to some nut-cases knowing the some teachers may be armed; but to most of them it wouldn’t make any difference. They may even become more excited seeing it as a challenge to see if they can get by the armed teacher. The teachers would be the first ones to be shot.

There is a code that each and every military person is assigned when they join the armed services; it is called an MOS or military occupation status. Meaning; what job are they qualified for while serving. Arming all the teachers is not their MOS. 95 – 98% of them are not qualified or have the mental strength to pull the trigger.

# 2; it is not an easy thing to shoot someone and the majority of the people in this world do not have the nerve to pull the trigger in the heat of the moment.

# 3; if the teachers were armed they would have to be very well trained. Shooting someone is more of a mental thing then it is a physical thing.  It has to be an instantaneous decision and carried out with precision. Those who hesitate are lost.

# 4; a fire arm in the hands of the wrong/untrained person can be more deadly than not. Can we even imaging a teacher having a shootout with a well-armed assailant?  Not a pretty sight.  This is not the movies when the sharpshooter takes out the villain in one shot.

So my agreeing with Trump stands at about 5%, or less.

My solution would be to utilize our well trained military personal. We have 100’s of 1,000’s of them in foreign countries where they do not belong. Our president see the necessity to cut the strength of the military instead of building it. Not a smart decision.  Or develop an entirely new service of the government, properly training them specifically for the purpose to protect our kids in schools.

As of 31 December 2013, 1,369,532 people were on active duty in the armed forces, with an additional 850,880 people in the seven reserve components. Utilize a percentage of them without compromising our national security, to protect the schools.

I don’t know how many citizens realize that there are some jobs in the military that are completely useless. Take the military bands for instance, all branches of the service have a band – how about the jock-strappers (people that play sports their entire enlistment). These cushy jobs should be eliminated and put the people into more productive roles, like protecting our schools. Commonsense decisions like these never cross the politicians mind.

Along with complacency, our nation’s leaders have a very hard time making decisions, that is unless it benefits them directly, especially when it comes to drastic changes. Most of them get into politics and use it as a popularity contest. That is not what superiors leaders are made of. A superior leader should not care what their popularity numbers are, IF they are doing the right things. They should have gone into show business if they wanted to be popular.

If anyone that has a ¼ of a brain does not see that drastic changes are necessary now; they better come out from under the rock they are hiding under.

You ask; how much will that cost to implement these new ideas? What is the difference? With the way our country burns up the buck that should be the least of our considerations.

I ask; what is one life worth? How much in foreign aid do we piss away each year giving to countries that their mission in life is to terminate all Americans? All foreign aid should be cut off until the USA has reestablished itself. That may take 20 years, if it is even possible. Charity should begin at home.

The USA just released 150 BBBBBillion dollars in sanctions relief to Iran with this nuclear whore deal. Just how far do we think that same 150 BBBBBillion dollars could go to protecting our kids and teachers?

The major problem the politicians have is; all of their priorities are pointed in the wrong direction. Naturally; first priority being themselves.

On a 100% scale, I will give Trump 5% or less for his arming the teachers’ idea. To arm some of them that have had military or police experience would be a better idea. Having secure entrances, a few dozen people well trained and armed people on a campus, depending on the size of the school would make a lot more sense and save more lives.

There are many options the government has to help put an end to these mass killings. But just like any other of their duties, it will take about 15 years to run it through the bureaucracy’s red tape. By that time the bodies count keeps going up. Who is at fault?

For now I say metal detector and well trained armed guard at each entrance of each school in the country. If it means blocking off some of the entrances to condense the traffic flow into several locations that is what should be done.

If some people are more concerned with their convenience than their lives, this just reinforces my opinion just how out of touch some people in this country are. If they haven’t noticed, this is not happening across the pond; it is now playing at a school or theater near you.

Ladies – gents and kids – this is just the beginning of a long war from within. A war that is going to be very difficult to curb. Our leaders better adapt but I doubt they will.

I would say the first thing they will do is put together a commission to study the situation. Hire a few czars (the USA loves czars) and maybe – maybe in 5 years they might catch on to the fact there are some extreme measures that need to be take. Maybe.

Just in @ 1150 eastern time: Do I have a crystal ball or what????

WASHINGTON — House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) wants Congress to establish a Select Committee on Gun Violence in the wake of the Oregon college shooting that left 10 dead on Thursday.

Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonkblog/wp/2015/10/01/2015-274-days-294-mass-shootings-hundreds-dead/

Shooting in Oregon: So far in 2015, we’ve had 274 days and 294 mass shootings. I don’t see anyone making any sensible/realistic moves to curb these events from happening.

These numbers sound hard to believe. If anyone does not see an urgency present, I will be at a loss for words.
